People's Emergency Briefing

Introduction: The People's Emergency Briefing Film

The People’s Emergency Briefing is a public information film designed for in‑person community screenings followed by a constructive local discussion. It sets out the national implications of climate and nature breakdown—and the credible, positive responses that can still reduce risk “in a single, accessible account” made for communities to watch together.

The film is built from evidence first presented at the National Emergency Briefing held at Westminster Central Hall, where ten leading UK experts briefed an invited audience of over 1,200 politicians and leaders on climate and nature risks and solutions.  The Westminster event was opened by Chris Packham.

The People’s Emergency Briefing combines expert content from the Westminster event with reactions from members of the public and familiar faces, helping audiences process the evidence and what it means for everyday life.

Running time: around 50 minutes, with subtitles noted in distribution listings.

Why this screening

Climate and nature breakdown affects every part of life—from health and food systems to infrastructure, security, and economic stability—and the film is intended to help communities engage with the evidence and talk through what effective responses could look like locally and nationally.

Each screening is intended to be followed by structured discussion, supported by guidance from the National Emergency Briefing team to keep conversations constructive and solutions‑focused.   You can find a full list of national screenings at nebriefing.org.uk/screening-map
